PriceOnHealth measures what hospital price-transparency data actually contains — obtained from the machine-readable files hospitals publish under 45 CFR part 180, hashed at retrieval, and analyzed reproducibly. The goal is a tool that lets people compare real prices for common procedures in their local area, beginning with imaging.
Public comment — CMS-1850-P
In August 2026, PriceOnHealth filed a public comment with the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services responding to the Request for Information on strengthening the standardization and comparability of hospital price-transparency data (file code CMS-1850-P, docket CMS-2026-2344). The comment reports measurements from 40 machine-readable files published by 37 Texas hospital systems and makes six recommendations. Every figure traces to a named file, a named field, and the SHA-256 of the file it came from; the manifest and analysis records are available on request.
